Ornament Collection 1991- 1994 # 1-4 in series

THE WHITE HOUSE ON THE EVE OF THE TURN OF A CENTURY, 1899, the design of which was influenced by the art of Norway during the European art period as seen by the point and angle-of-view as well as through the arrangement of the procession of carriages and people.

The 1991 ornament is a treasured heirloom, worldwide, by collectors who value the historical and often artistically referential nuances of the White House Gift Shop’s annual ornaments as well as the beauty of this collection with all ornaments featuring complete 24KT gold finishing, baked enamels, historical information cards, and dated by year to mark the passage of time, and handmade, always, only in Rhode Island, USA.

1992 White House Ornament, THE BUSH OVAL OFFICE, #2 in Series, Honorrs President G. H. Walker Bush, 41st President, Handmade in the USA by Official Ornament Makers

The beauty of this piece is perhaps in its calm and oval design, redolent not only of the Oval Office but of presidential and State Department diplomatic successes in American-Soviet relations during 1991 and 1992.

With its calm blues, browns, and golden hues, our 1992 Oval Office ornament reflects key diplomatic successes: Indeed, on January 26, Boris Yeltsin announced that Russia would stop targeting United States cities with nuclear weapons. The positive psychological effect of Yeltsin's announcement was mutual relief for all Americans and Russians who lived through the “duck and cover” days of the Cold War era (often dated from 1947 to 1991) during which MAD or Mutually Assured Destruction was the primary strategic deterrent to the threat of horrific nuclear war.

President George Herbert Walker Bush (born June 12, 1924) occupied the Oval Office when this ornament was created. President Bush served as the 41st President of the United States (1989–1993). A Republican, he had previously served as the 43rd Vice President of the United States (1981–1989), a congressman, an ambassador, and Director of Central Intelligence. He is the oldest former President and Vice President, and the last former President who is a veteran of World War II. Foreign policy drove the Bush presidency: military operations in Panama and the Persian Gulf; the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, and the Soviet Union dissolved two years later.

1993 White House Ornament, THE BLUE ROOM, #3 in Series, Handmade in USA by Official Ornament Makers

The Blue Room is located in the center of the State Floor of the White House. The President uses the Blue Room to receive many of his guests, from foreign heads of state to members of Congress. Originally decorated in red, blue was selected as the color for the drapes, upholstery, and carpet during an 1837 refurbishing under President Martin Van Buren. Blue walls were introduced in 1902. It has since been redecorated, but has always maintained its famous blue color scheme. During the holidays, the Blue Room is the location of the official White House’s Christmas tree.

1994, #4 in Series, THE WHITE HOUSE, U.S. CAPITOL, SECRET SERVICE STARS, 24 KT Gold Finished, Handmade in USA by Official Ornament Makers
