At the White House Gift Shop, Est. 1946, the art of Anthony Fileccia Giannini advances a tradition that joins historical memory with moral imagination. A graduate in design, cognitive science, and education at Harvard University and informed by direct dialogues with Erik H. Erikson, Joan Erikson, and the legacies of Skinner and Freud, Giannini’s work fuses studio craft, psychological insight, and civic reflection into intimate artifacts, prints, codices, coins, reliquaries, and limited-edition objects, created to be held, contemplated, and passed forward.

Within WHGS, Giannini serves as CEO and Chief Designer (since 2010), shaping collections that memorialize pivotal American and world moments while sustaining the Shop’s philanthropic lineage from its 1946 origins with President Truman and the U.S. Secret Service. His designs range from presidential commemoratives to works of witness, pieces that have reached global contexts and public institutions, yet remain personal in scale and purpose.

What defines “Giannini Art”?

It is a canon of psychopoetic artifacts: small, finely crafted works that ask the viewer to reflect on democracy and law, on grief and renewal, on the human stages of courage.
