Magnificent imagery of War raging on one side and Peace portrayed by Sunflowers on the other
See the Sunshine of the Ukrainian people as they fight for their:
  • Freedom
  • Democracy
  • Lasting Peace
  • Sunflowers exhibit resilience, hope, faith, courage, endurance, persistency, of the Ukrainian people as they fight on the path to keep the sunshine peace. The artist, Mi Mi Leone, spent her entire professional career working to improve airline safety worldwide and retired from her profession with awards and good-byes from her Washington D.C. colleagues who were inspired by Mi Mi's work ethic, intelligence, love for United States, intuitiveness, and a plethora of other attributes.Having been a university classically trained fine artist in her home of origin, South Korea, MiMi never lifted a paint brush after college as she started her career in Washington D.C. After retirement, Mi Mi suddenly found herself thinking about art again, not by requirement, but as a free spirit. And so, the fun began as she built a home-painting studio, starting to paint for her personal pleasure.
  • MiMi's personal pleasure suddenly became the 'talk' of the town, as her prolific works inspired everyone who viewed her work. Truly intriguing is that MiMi paints without models, projections from a screen, or props. She becomes familiar with the topic that inspires her, and paints with astonishing depth, not unlike MiMi's personal character.
  • As Mi Mi's friends would visit and see what she was creating, they wanted to buy her work. Reluctant at first, she said yes, and within less than a year, she was being called upon by strangers who heard of her art, asking for custom pieces, from pet dogs to masterpieces above their fireplace mantles. This synergy of creativity and demand continued leading to invitations to present her art in galleries, art shows, invitational contests, private showings, corporations, and so on.
  • Now, after multiple awards, Mi Mi only paints by Commission. She spends weeks and months researching and studying the concepts her commissioners are looking for, to get the perfection, look, and feel that her clients are seeking. She has been known to look at a blank canvas for weeks, while systematically investigating, to discern the intensity of history, emotion, belief, love, faith, geography, and or time span that may impact her creation on canvas, for her clients. It is the combined intensity of thought, ability to grasp the intent of her clients, and raw talent that brings meaning and applause to every work she produces.
  • Ms. Leone's Ukrainian oil came out of watching the citizens of Ukraine, having their right to a peaceful life, being thwarted and threatened by evil Russian aggressors. The desire to keep their homeland safe has affected every single person in Ukraine, as loved ones go off to war, some not returning, some returning with serious injuries, some returning to homes that have been totally destroyed. YET, the determination to find peace is portrayed by the sunflowers who always open in the sunshine, the path between peace and evil that separates them, and the radiant sun between them.
  • This size, 48 inches by 48 inches, was required to create the chasm between war and peace, and space for the sun that rises daily upon each and every soul in Ukraine, a visual reflection of the conviction of Ukrainian people. As confounding as the fight over Snake Island, this piece shows the resilience of Ukraine!
  • A one-of-a-kind original canvas mounted on a wooden frame; this work will ship in its own crate to its final home. Because of its size, it can be the focal piece in a living room, in a bedroom, an office, conference room, corporate office hallway, or gallery.
  • The White House Gift Shop is honored to present this piece of art for sale, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from The White House Gift Shop.
