Set of 4 Original Artist's Print Archival Greeting Cards with Envelopes
The United States Capitol Christmas Tree “Silver Belle” In Gossamer Pastels by A. F. GianniniAlso Perfect for Standard Size Framing Suggest 8" x 10" Frame with 4.5" x 6.5" Mat or Clear Celebrate the 2025 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree—Silver Belle, Nevada’s gift to the nation—with this fine-art greeting card set created exclusively for The White House Gift Shop, Est. 1946. Each card features a painterly rendering of the United States Capitol at dusk, partnering with the newly arrived Capitol Christmas Tree on the West Lawn: luminous, dignified, and quietly joyful.
The artwork is reproduced from Anthony F. Giannini’s original 4' x 6' oil on canvas, a pastel-toned study of the Capitol during the holiday season. Printed as archival-quality fine-art cards, this set of four with envelopes is designed for collectors, historians, and anyone who treasures the civic rituals of the American winter.
History & Inspiration
Since the early 1960s, the Capitol Christmas Tree—nicknamed “The People’s Tree” has stood on the West Front Lawn of the U.S. Capitol as a symbol of national gathering and shared hope. The modern annual tradition dates to 1964, when a formal procedure for selecting and lighting a tree at the Capitol was first established. Harvested from the Carson Ranger District, Silver Belle traveled nearly 3,800 miles across the country, stopping in communities along the way before arriving on Capitol Hill to be lit in early December. For 2025, the tree is a 53-foot red fir from the Humboldt–Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada, affectionately named “Silver Belle.” It is the first time a red fir, and the first time the state of Nevada, has provided the Capitol Christmas Tree.
Artist’s Statement – Anthony F. Giannini“In this work, I wanted the U.S. Capitol to feel less like marble and more like memory, a building held in light. The 2025 tree, Silver Belle, is not merely decoration; it is a living emissary from Nevada’s high country, brought to Washington by thousands of unseen hands and stories. I painted the scene in soft oils with visible brushwork so that the tree and dome appear to shimmer in shared light, pastel blues, rose golds, and gentle greens, festive but never overwhelming. This greeting card set is my way of sending that moment of quiet civic beauty into homes and offices across the country.” • Original artwork: Oil on canvas, 4 feet x 6 feet, by A. F. Giannini
