Description

White House Gift Shop's HONORING MILITARY SERVICES annual ornament honors the men and women of Air Force One and the United States Air Force for service to the President and America. The Air Force one is the 1st of a permanent new series; thus, is a chance to begin a new 3-D Holiday and Christmas ornament and model collection that commemorates icons of Military Service as well as in future years key moments in American military history.

We especially wanted the Air Force One to be a classic heirloom piece for generations to come and took inspiration from American toy companies up to the end of the 1950s when cheaper plastic replaced the beautiful metal plate collectibles of the 1800s through the 1950s. This piece pays homage, as well, to early American tinplate toy makers as well as employing centuries-old handmade construction methods.

FEATURES:

* 24KT plating on premium brass handmade construction, 3-D superstructure, seven color baked enamel, intricate ornament construction, is Handmade in the USA by master American ornament and toy makers who also make the official White House Annual Tree Ornament

* The Air Force One is both hangable from its gold cord (as on a tree) and also standable (as on a desk, table, or display shelf)

* Classic centuries-old ornament and toy making design and methods -- note merely an inexpensive molded plastic model of Air Force One but a classic piece with intentional contours, angles, and heirloom tin toy collectability -- homage, as well, to the history of American toy makers across the centuries.

Air Force One is one of the most recognizable symbols of the presidency with symbolic presence not just in American culture but across the world with now iconic colors selected by former First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy.
